Fort Wayne South Side hasn't had much luck against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Archers will look to defend their home field against the Saints at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Fort Wayne South Side sitting on four straight wins and Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger on nine.
Fort Wayne South Side is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since May 18, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Fort Wayne Wayne.
Drew Pancake spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fort Wayne South Side is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, David Sandoval was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Donovan French was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past Twin Lakes 3-2.
Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger also got a great performance from Finn Moilanen as he pitched 7.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Moilanen has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Houston Ellinger, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Fort Wayne South Side's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fort Wayne South Side has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fort Wayne South Side suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Archers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
