Ralston is 0-4 against Wahoo since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Ralston Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Wahoo Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Ralston is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Ralston pushed their score all the way to 64 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Malcolm. While losing is never fun, Ralston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Malcolm is ranked 46th).
Despite the defeat, Ralston had strong showings from Deacon Courtney, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Davinchi Gray, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Winner Mutoke, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Ralston were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wahoo entered their tilt with Lincoln Lutheran with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Wahoo rang in the new year with a 63-51 victory over Lincoln Lutheran last Saturday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wahoo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Simons, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Simons is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Marcus Glock was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Ralston's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Wahoo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Ralston have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 43.8% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Wahoo struggles in that department as they've nailed 51.2% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Ralston took a serious blow against Wahoo when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 93-55. Thankfully for Ralston, De'andre Nelson (who scored 21 points along with three steals and three blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
