Narbonne extended the longest winning streak in Marine this week by beating Serra, 22-9. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Gauchos.
Gardena moved up to 265 from 412 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers were able to make the jump by beating University 22-6.
Gardena's dynamic duo of Phil Johnson and Raysean Wight proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Johnson threw for 168 yards and one touchdown and Wight had 68 yards receiving. Domenic Toliver helped Gardena's passing attack out by catching four balls for 39 yards.
Darrell Santiago was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 187 yards on 15 carries as San Pedro topped University. Teammate Gregory Thomas added to the ground attack by rushing for 51 yards.
Gardena's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 721 yards and eight touchdowns this season, while Tyree Simmons has 12 catches for 202 yards. Simmons leads the league in rushing with 506 yards.
George Washington Prep and Fremont played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with George Washington Prep eventually emerging with a 16-14 victory.
