Basketball Recap: Sandy Creek Triumphs

Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Sandy Creek beat Bob Jones 55-51 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Sandy Creek.

Sandy Creek found their leader in sophomore Morghan Reckley, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 13 boards. Reckley also set a new season-high mark in shooting accuracy with 52%. Another player making a difference was Kandyce Hopkins, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Bob Jones' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elise McClain, who shot 40% from the field on her way to 18 points and seven boards. Ja'Kyah Smith was another key player, going 6-for-15 en route to 15 points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds.

The victory got Sandy Creek back to even at 2-2. As for Bob Jones, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

Sandy Creek has already played their next game, an 81-12 win against Spalding on the 2nd. As for Bob Jones, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 72-37 victory against Austin on the 2nd.
