Woodcrest Christian and Arrowhead Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Woodcrest Christian Royals will be playing at home against the Arrowhead Christian Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Woodcrest Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Woodcrest Christian is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Citrus Hill just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 7-6. The game marked the Royals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Annie Renna was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Peyton Hare, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Renna wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Woodcrest Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Arrowhead Christian never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Loma Linda Academy as Arrowhead Christian made off with a 10-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Gaby Rios was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Trinity Bavadi was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Emma Ebnit was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Having lost for the first time this season, Woodcrest Christian fell to 5-1. As for Arrowhead Christian, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-4.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Woodcrest Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Arrowhead Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .535. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Woodcrest Christian took their win against Arrowhead Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 22-11. Does Woodcrest Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Arrowhead Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
