Michigan City is 1-9 against La Porte since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wolves will host the Slicers at 4:30 p.m. Michigan City has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Michigan City is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Morgan Township, falling 16-9.
Justice Randall and Keegan Cowgill stepped up to the plate in a big way. Randall went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Cowgill went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, while La Porte put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Plymouth. The Slicers came out on top against the Pilgrims/Rockies by a score of 4-0. The Slicers haven't had any issues with the Pilgrims/Rockies recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
La Porte also got a great performance from Ethan Schoof as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Schoof also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Slicers are 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-8 otherwise.
At the plate, Bryce McShane was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Gage Raymond was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Michigan City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for La Porte, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Michigan City's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Wolves have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for La Porte, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Michigan City continue to outrun the ball?
Michigan City suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to La Porte in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
