After flying high against the McCluer South-Berkeley Bulldogs on Wednesday, the Parkway South Patriots came back down to earth. Parkway South took a hard 59-45 fall against Maplewood-Richmond Heights on Thursday.
Parkway South's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ross Mcculla, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ryan Shanfeld, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Parkway South were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Parkway South now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Maplewood-Richmond Heights, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Parkway South will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Ritenour at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Maplewood-Richmond Heights will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Brentwood at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
