Softball Recap: Madison Gets the Win

Madison is still undefeated this season after their game against Onsted on Tuesday, but Onsted came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Trojans came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Wildcats. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 15-2 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2015.

Camylie Sower made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mya Solis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Jazlyn Zaszczurynski was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Madison's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Onsted, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Madison will head out to square off against Monroe at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Onsted, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hudson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
