B District 8 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Scottsbluff extended the longest winning streak in B District 8 this week by beating Grand Island Northwest, 23-21. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Bearcats.
Scottsbluff and the Vikings played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Scottsbluff eventually emerging with a 23-21 victory.
Sidney's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Lane Harvey threw for 45 yards and Chance Anglin had 16 yards receiving. On the ground Logan Lewis chipped in 96 yards. Brenton Christian helped Sidney's passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.
Sidney's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Red Raiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Harvey has thrown for 448 yards and one touchdown this season, while Lewis has 13 catches for 92 yards. Lewis leads the league in rushing with 440 yards.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Gering takes on Joe Benson's team. The Bulldogs have allowed 126 points this season, while the Bearcats have given up 49.
Gering made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,272 from 6,212. The improvement was the result of 16-13 victory over Hastings last week.
