The East Clarendon Wolverines will head out on the road to challenge the Hemingway Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. East Clarendon is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Wednesday, East Clarendon suffered a tough 58-36 defeat at the hands of the Bears. East Clarendon has not had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Meanwhile, Hemingway's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They fell 55-47 to Scott's Branch.
Despite their defeat, Hemingway saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jerel Hampton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Hampton also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Omarion Burgess, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Hemingway were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their 14th loss (out of 16 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
East Clarendon's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Hemingway, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season.
East Clarendon strolled past the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 69-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Clarendon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
