Mitchell County hasn't had much luck against Early County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Meanwhile, Early County got themselves on the board against Pelham on Friday, but Pelham never followed suit. They breezed past the Hornets to the tune of 37-0. The matchup marked the Bobcats' most dominant victory of the season.
Mitchell County better keep an eye on Devonis Lee. He was instrumental in Early County's win, rushing for 85 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. Lee also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making four total tackles.
Early County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 348 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 182 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Early County's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Lee, Kobe Lingo, and Ra'Keevian Lee, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Mitchell County's record now sits at 5-2. As for Early County, their record is now 6-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Mitchell County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 193.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Early County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 296.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Mitchell County was taken down by Early County 48-16 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lee, who rushed for 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries.
