The Lake Minneola Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Windermere Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Lake Minneola turned things around against Lake Buena Vista on Thursday. They blew past the Vipers 14-3. The Hawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 24th (when they won 15-4).
Lake Minneola got a massive performance out of Amaliz Martinez, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Martinez has posted since back in May of 2024. Kaydence Schutte also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Windermere came out on top against Lake Buena Vista on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run second inning. The Wolverines' pitchers stepped up to hand the Vipers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Sophia Margelos looked comfortable as she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Erika Bennouna, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Tristan Trimbee was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Windermere kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Lake Minneola's record now sits at 9-12. As for Windermere, their record is now 11-9.
Lake Minneola might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Windermere in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
