Having just played yesterday, the Central Cabarrus Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Robinson Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
If Central Cabarrus beats Robinson with 62 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Central Cabarrus beat Lake Norman Charter on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 62-51. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
Central Cabarrus' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Myajah Nix, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Nix also posted three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jahnae Duncan, who earned 12 points along with eight boards and six assists.
Central Cabarrus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Robinson came tearing into Monday's game with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.9 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Raiders 64-21. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Central Cabarrus better keep an eye on Camri Hobbs. She was instrumental in Robinson's win, going 11-for-14 on her way to 23 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Hobbs is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 46% in the last 11 games she's played. Charlene McNeil was another key player, putting up 13 points.
Robinson pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points over those games. As for Central Cabarrus, their record now sits at 11-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Central Cabarrus has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 34.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Robinson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 21 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Central Cabarrus suffered a grim 72-46 defeat to Robinson in their previous matchup on Tuesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hobbs, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards. Now that Central Cabarrus knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
