Eads is 9-1 against Springfield since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eagles will face off against the Longhorns at 3:00 p.m. Eads is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Eads is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Cheyenne Wells 19-4 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Adyn Hough made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Case Nelson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Stockton Mitchek, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Eads always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cheyenne Wells only posted an OBP of .368.
Meanwhile, Springfield hadn't done well against McClave recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Longhorns came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 8-3.
Like Eads, Springfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Hudson Gourley. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gourley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Springfield let Carter Barnes and Grady Mundell run wild. Barnes scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Mundell scored a run while going 3-for-4. Barnes also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Dane Rosengrants was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Eads pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Springfield, their record now sits at 2-3.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eads hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like Springfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Eads' way against Springfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Eads made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
