The Quitman Wolverines will head out to challenge the Calvary Baptist Academy Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Quitman will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Last Tuesday, Quitman beat Simsboro 6-1. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Hayden Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Quitman is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-13 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hudson Pullig, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Maddox Duck was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Calvary Baptist Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Eagles 11-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Cavaliers have posted against the Eagles since February 20, 2018.
Calvary Baptist Academy also got a great performance from Patrick Digilormo as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Digilormo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Garrett Lee was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Holmes, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Calvary Baptist Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.
Calvary Baptist Academy pushed their record up to 22-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Quitman, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
Quitman suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Calvary Baptist Academy when the teams last played back in February. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
