The Golden Demons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Alameda 78-7 at home. Golden has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season.
Leading Golden to victory were Allie Neal and Freya Wellman. Neal scored 14 points along with four steals, while Wellman scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Wellman pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zonyalane Bermanis, who scored nine points along with four steals.
The win got Golden back to even at 7-7. As for Alameda, their defeat was their 17th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9.
Golden will square off against Evergreen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Evergreen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Alameda, they will be playing at home against Denver West at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Denver West comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
