If the Taft Raiders were riding high off their 3-0 takedown of the Holmes Huskies last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Taft fell just short of Jay by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, Taft can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Jay is ranked 92nd).
Jorge diego Ortega garcia and
Adrian Gonzales did their best for Taft and scored both of Taft's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 17 so far this season.
Taft's loss dropped their record down to 10-6-2. As for Jay, they pushed their record up to 10-2-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taft will take on Harlan at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harlan will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Taft surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jay, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Warren at 7:00 p.m. on February 20th.
