Basketball Game Preview: FAITH HomeSchool Falcons vs. Bethany Christian

FAITH HomeSchool and Bethany Christian are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The FAITH HomeSchool Falcons just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face Bethany Christian at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

FAITH HomeSchool is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Faith Baptist on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. FAITH HomeSchool lost 47-27 to Faith Baptist. The match marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Bethany Christian came tearing into Tuesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 63-55 victory over the Crusaders. Given Bethany Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Austin Catholic is ranked 710th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bethany Christian's win came from a few key players FAITH HomeSchool will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nathaniel Byers, who dropped a double-double with 32 points and ten boards. His evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Micah Wise, who went 8 of 14 to rack up 24 points.

Bethany Christian pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for FAITH HomeSchool, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

FAITH HomeSchool came up short against Bethany Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 61-56. Thankfully for FAITH HomeSchool, Clayton Beachell (who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
