The East Tech Scarabs will be home for the holidays to greet the Beachwood Bison at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
East Tech scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 93-36 victory over Collinwood. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win East Tech has managed all season.
East Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keshawn Ellington, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ellington has scored at least 25% of East Tech's points. Chris Simon was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Beachwood, who are still winless after their sixth game. They took a 67-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Geauga on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Beachwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 743rd, while West Geauga is ranked 193rd).
The victory makes it two in a row for East Tech and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Beachwood, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-6.
East Tech came out on top in a nail-biter against Beachwood when the teams last played back in January of 2016, sneaking past 71-68. Will East Tech repeat their success, or does Beachwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
