The Longmont Trojans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 49-40 win over Littleton. Given Longmont's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Littleton is ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Longmont got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Suge Valles out in front who scored 15 points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. Levi Scheck was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Treyton Fletcher, who scored 15 points. Fletcher scored a full 37.5% of Littleton's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Griffin, who scored six points.
Longmont pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Littleton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Longmont and Mead will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Mead and Longmont are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Littleton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wheat Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
