After a string of eight wins, the Grove City Greyhounds's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Pickerington North by a score of 52-49. Grove City was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pickerington North apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Grove City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Keegan Holmstrom. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kraig Gilbert, who scored nine points.
Grove City's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2. As for Pickerington North, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Grove City will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. Pickerington North won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Eastmoor Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 6th. Eastmoor Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 490th, while Pickerington North is ranked 51st).
