The Clopton Hawks stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They blew past Wellsville-Middletown 82-26 at home. With Clopton ahead 42-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Clopton had a senior duo take command as Jasmine Hammett scored 19 points along with two steals and Braya Smith scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. It was the first time this season that Hammett scored 15 or more points. Stacia Talbert was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Clopton is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Wellsville-Middletown, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clopton will take on Wright City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wright City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while Clopton is ranked 69th). As for Wellsville-Middletown, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Van-Far at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Wellsville-Middletown is facing Van-Far at the right time seeing as Van-Far is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
