Rosewood is 9-1 against Lakewood since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Rosewood will face off against Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Rosewood was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against James Kenan on Monday. Rosewood's pitcher stepped up to hand James Kenan a 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won seven in a row.
Hayley Bedford was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kylie Huffman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Rosewood hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lakewood, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against Hobbton on Tuesday as Lakewood made off with an 18-7 victory.
Caitlyn Bass was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She also tossed four walks, marking her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Karizma Freeman was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Faircloth, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3.
Rosewood pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Lakewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6-1 record this season.
Rosewood took their win against Lakewood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-1. Does Rosewood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakewood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
