Palm Harbor University has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Dunedin Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dunedin took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Palm Harbor University, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Palm Harbor University didn't have too much trouble with East Lake at home as they won 23-7.
Will Seibert looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, while also throwing for 93 yards and a touchdown on only seven passes.
The team's defense also helped out by holding East Lake to a paltry 233 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Palm Harbor University's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Gunner Fodor and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Dunedin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Calvary Christian 65-0. While losing is never fun, Dunedin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while Calvary Christian is ranked 54th).
Palm Harbor University has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Dunedin, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Palm Harbor University has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 166.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Dunedin, though, as they've been averaging only 88.3 per game. How will Dunedin fare against such a dominant running game?
Palm Harbor University took their victory against Dunedin in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 27-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Palm Harbor University since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
