On Friday, The Point Pleasant Boro Panthers got themselves on the board against the Raritan Rockets, but the Raritan Rockets never followed suit. They really took it to the Rockets for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-0 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Point Pleasant Boro, who have now won six contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
Matt Oliphant continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 171 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Oliphant is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Jake Clayton was another key contributor, rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown.
The win makes it two in a row for Point Pleasant Boro and bumps their season record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 43 points. As for Raritan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Point Pleasant Boro will challenge Spotswood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Spotswood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Point Pleasant Boro is ranked 20th). As for Raritan, they will head out on the road to face off against Haddonfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Haddonfield will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
