Basketball Recap: Seymour Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Seymour lost to South-Doyle back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Seymour Eagles walked away with a 67-54 victory over the South-Doyle Cherokees. The Eagles pushed the score to 53-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cherokees cut but never quite recovered from.

Seymour got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hayes Golden out in front who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Golden's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Talon Pederson, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.

Seymour's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. As for South-Doyle, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Seymour wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-30 loss against Fulton on the 21st. South-Doyle has also already played their next contest, a 48-46 defeat against Sequoyah on the 21st.
