Basketball Recap: Norton Gets the Win

Norton put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They escaped with a win against the Seekonk Warriors by the margin of a single free throw, 44-43. While the Lancers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Johnny Payne, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 15 points and three steals. The match was Payne's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Pereira, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Norton's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Seekonk, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norton will host Blue Hills RVT at 6:45 p.m. on January 2, 2025. As for Seekonk, they will welcome North Attleborough at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
