The Shallowater Mustangs were the 43-28 winner over the Bushland Falcons when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Shallowater took a serious blow against Bushland on Friday, falling 35-3. While losing is never fun, Shallowater can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 470th, while Bushland is ranked 103rd).
Clayton Vincent threw for 56 yards on five of 15 attempts. On the ground, Cannon Reed rushed for 76 yards.
Shallowater has fallen quite a ways from their 10-2 record last season and are now at 3-5. As for Bushland, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Shallowater will head out on the road to face off against Muleshoe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bushland, they will be playing at home against Dalhart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dalhart will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
