Morehead is a perfect 10-0 against Reidsville since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Panthers will challenge the Rams at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morehead has six straight wins, Reidsville has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Morehead barely beat Bethany Community the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Wolves 17-1 on Wednesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.
Reece Dunovant was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Morehead got a massive performance out of Jacob Sands, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Wade, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Morehead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bethany Community only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Reidsville lost a heartbreaker to Morehead when they met back in March of 2025, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Rams came up short against the Panthers, falling 12-2.
Morehead's record is now 10-4. As for Reidsville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Morehead got the 'W' in their previous meeting on Tuesday against Reidsville by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
