Kingwood gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Clear Creek Wildcats 38-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Mustangs just coasted through the last quarter.

A big part of Kingwood's win came down to the chemistry between Landon Hinson and his top target Kye Wehby. Hinson threw for 173 yards and three TDs while Wehby picked up 100 receiving yards and one score. That's the most passing touchdowns Hinson has posted since back in October of 2024.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Kingwood, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wehby, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Looking ahead, Kingwood is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge La Porte at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Clear Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shadow Creek at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
