The Decatur Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagle Mountain Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Decatur is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Decatur took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Castleberry.

Alivia Creasser made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Lainey Cobb was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eagle Mountain had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Lions. Considering the Knights have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Decatur, Eagle Mountain also got a great game from a two-way player: Ashlyn Eggleton. Throwing, Eggleton struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Karah Cardinal struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. At bat, Eggleton went 2-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Cardinal went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Zoe Hawthorne and Emily Claire (EC) Neill did most of the damage at the plate: Hawthorne went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Neill went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Wilson, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Eagle Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Castleberry only managed six.
Eagle Mountain's record is now 14-7-1. As for Decatur, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Decatur hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like Eagle Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Decatur came up short against Eagle Mountain in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 5-1. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
