Mississinewa is 2-8 against Oak Hill since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Indians will venture away from home to square off against the Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Mississinewa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Mississinewa got the win against Kokomo by a conclusive 12-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.
Lilah Greer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amiyaa Parr-Inman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Allie Trejo was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Mississinewa hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Oak Hill ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Eastbrook 5-4. The victory was nothing new for the Golden Eagles as they're now sitting on five straight.
Lex Myers was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Maddie Archer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Oak Hill's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Mississinewa, their record is now 14-4.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mississinewa hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Oak Hill struggles in that department as they've averaged .386. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mississinewa couldn't quite get it done against Oak Hill in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
