Football Recap: Colony Takes a Loss

After flying high against Redington on Tuesday, Colony came back down to earth. The Knights had to suffer through a 51-6 loss at the hands of the Dimond Lynx. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this contest were averaging 14.36 points allowed.

Even if they lost, Colony's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Kayden Makamson was especially locked on to Dimond's QB and sacked her twice. Makamson is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another thorn in Dimond's side was Hayden Vanderpool, who forced two fumbles and made six total tackles.

Colony's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for Dimond, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Colony wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 26-6 victory against South Anchorage on the 16th. As for Dimond, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 29-12 win against West Anchorage on the 17th.
