The Maryvale Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 39-31 to Carl Hayden Community. Maryvale was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Carl Hayden Community apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Leading Carl Hayden Community to victory were Bria Moultrie and Bryana Lopez. Moultrie scored 16 points along with two steals, while Lopez scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Lopez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played.
Maryvale's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-13. As for Carl Hayden Community, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maryvale and Camelback will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Camelback is ranked 256th, while Maryvale is ranked 259th). As for Carl Hayden Community, they will head out on the road to challenge Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
