The Decatur Community Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Hoxie, falling 63-32. While losing is never fun, Decatur Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Hoxie is ranked third).
Brylee Minnick and Kamryn Oien certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Minnick scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Oien scored 11 points. Minnick is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Decatur Community's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Hoxie, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Decatur Community will face off against Ness City at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoxie will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Russell at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
