Softball Recap: Roanoke Rapids Takes a Loss

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Roanoke Rapids's offense. They fell just short of the Wake Prep Academy Guardians by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.

Piper Vann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Roanoke Rapids saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Bell, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Those hits were Bell's first of the season.

Roanoke Rapids now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Wake Prep Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Coming up, Roanoke Rapids will look to defend their home field on Friday against J.H. Rose at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Yellowjackets 2.6, the Rampants 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Wake Prep Academy, they will square off against Bunn at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Guardians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
