Dinuba is 5-0 against Mission Oak since August of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dinuba Emperors will be playing at home against the Mission Oak Hawks at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Dinuba was able to grind out a solid victory over Tulare Union, taking the game 35-28. The victory was just what Dinuba needed coming off of a 49-12 defeat in their prior contest.
Dinuba had a senior duo take command as Diego Tuttle rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry and Julian Ramirez rushed for 106 yards and three touchdowns. Matthew Guido and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Dinuba's win.
Meanwhile, Mission Oak's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 35-34 to Hanford. While losing is never fun, Mission Oak can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Hanford is ranked 106th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Daniel Gonzalez, who threw for 238 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Cameron Azevedo, who picked up 54 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Dinuba now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Mission Oak, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5.
Dinuba strolled past Mission Oak in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 38-21. Will Dinuba repeat their success, or does Mission Oak have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
