Basketball Game Preview: Delta Panthers vs. Coal Ridge Titans

Delta has gone 10-0 against Coal Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Delta Panthers will challenge the Coal Ridge Titans at 5:30 p.m. Delta will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Delta took their matchup with ease, bagging a 48-17 victory over Steamboat Springs. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 25-5.

Delta had a senior duo take command as Taylor Somers dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards and Breezy Huff almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Huff has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Jaycee Christie was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Delta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Coal Ridge played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 62-38 to Roaring Fork. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Rams are ranked 79th).

Delta's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Coal Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Everything came up roses for Delta against Coal Ridge when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 72-23 victory. In that game, Delta amassed a halftime lead of 48-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
