Noah Putney was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Clover Hill: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Carson Hupp was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Clayton Washington was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Clover Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Powhatan and Manchester, and Manchester kept the tradition alive. The Indians fell 3-0 to the Lancers on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Indians' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Powhatan moved to 4-2-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Clover Hill, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.
Clover Hill suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Powhatan when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
