Pine Forest and Jack Britt are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Pine Forest Trojans will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Jack Britt Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. Pine Forest will be strutting in after a victory while Jack Britt will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Pine Forest earned a 64-52 victory over Gray's Creek.
Among those leading the charge was Dwayne Johnson, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Pine Forest's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Lyons, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Jack Britt's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Red Springs.
Despite their defeat, Jack Britt saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Michael Tubbs, who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Tysean Major, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Jack Britt were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Red Springs only pulled down seven.
The losses dropped Pine Forest to 1-1 and Gray's Creek to 0-2.
Pine Forest strolled past Jack Britt in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 55-40. Will Pine Forest repeat their success, or does Jack Britt have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
