The North Star Huskies will head out to square off against the Parma Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
North Star can't be too happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Wednesday. They fell 8-5 to Marsing. North Star has struggled against Marsing recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Carlos Guzman was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Guzman was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run.
In other batting news, Jace Irwin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Parma unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Weiser by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 21, 2025.
Like North Star, Parma also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaden Cole. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Cole gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
Cole wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Mullins, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Everything went North Star's way against Parma when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as North Star made off with a 20-9 win. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
