After two games on the road, Roy is heading back home. They will take on the Box Elder Bees at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Roy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Box Elder is ranked 28th).
Roy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 54-29 loss at the hands of Bountiful. Roy has not had much luck with Bountiful recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Ariana Strain put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Box Elder had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Clearfield 61-44. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 13 more assists than your opponent, as Box Elder did.
Box Elder's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jocelyn Vranes led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vranes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaydence Barber, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals.
Roy has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Box Elder, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
