The Britton Deerfield Patriots stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They really took it to Waldron for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-23 win on the road. Given Britton Deerfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while Waldron is ranked 572nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Britton Deerfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Shiels, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Shiels also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Good, who scored 13 points.
Britton Deerfield's lineup was just a bit different on Wednesday as Alex Anspach got a bit more time on the court (seven vs. his season average of 3.88). Anspach made the most of the opportunity, scoring four points along with seven rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
The victory makes it two in a row for Britton Deerfield and bumps their season record up to 14-5. As for Waldron, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Britton Deerfield will face off against Washtenaw Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Washtenaw Christian Academy is on a three-game streak of home wins, Britton Deerfield a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Waldron, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Litchfield at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Litchfield will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Waldron surely won't give up without a fight.
