The Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. Everything went their way against Broughton as Cardinal Gibbons made off with a 55-35 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cardinal Gibbons also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Cardinal Gibbons can attribute much of their success to Mya Lemons, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Gladieux, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and seven steals.
Broughton's loss came despite strong showings from Kalajah Wright and Clara Risinger. Wright scored nine points along with two steals, while Risinger scored four points along with 11 rebounds. Wright hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games.
Cardinal Gibbons pushed their record up to 14-7 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Broughton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-12.
Cardinal Gibbons will look to defend their home court on Friday against Leesville Road at 6:30 p.m. Leesville Road is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season. As for Broughton, they will head out on the road to face off against Sanderson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Broughton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
