District 10 Region 4 AA recap Oct. 9, 2012
Corry extended the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 4 AA this week by beating Seneca, 35-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Northwestern moved up to 287 from 325 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 29-0 win over Fort LeBoeuf helped the Wildcats improve their standing.
Corry's dynamic duo of Nathanel Smith and Tyler Engle proved tough for the Bobcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith threw for 172 yards and four touchdowns and Engle had 120 yards receiving. Patrick Brown helped Corry's passing attack out by catching one ball for 15 yards.
Shannon Jackson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 49 carries, he ran for 297 yards as Fairview beat Seneca. Teammate Joseph Martone added to the ground attack by rushing for 29 yards.
The Beavers' Smith and Engle have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading District 10 Region 4 AA in both passing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 711 yards this season, while Engle, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 22 catches for 314 yards. Jackson from the Tigers leads the league in rushing with 1443 yards.
Corry's Matt Cragg is a mere 100 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Cragg has rushed for 900 yards on 123 carries so far this year.
Fairview and Harbor Creek played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Fairview eventually emerging with a 19-14 victory. Jackson in the win.
