The Surrattsville Hornets's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Douglass Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Surrattsville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 82-4 win over International High School at Largo at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Surrattsville has managed all season.
Nadia Simpson was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. She hasn't dropped below 19 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Wormley, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Douglass had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They put the hurt on Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South with a sharp 67-44 victory.
Douglass found their leader in underclassman Courtney Smith, who scored 17 points. Smith is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Ford, who scored 11 points.
Surrattsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Douglass, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
