The Marshall Academy Griffons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher  on Thursday after their fourth straight  loss. Their  rough  44-21 defeat to Battle Creek Academy  might stick with them for a while. Marshall Academy has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
 Despite the  defeat, Marshall Academy saw an underclassman step up:  Malia Taylor  scored 16 points along with five  rebounds and two  steals. That was a full 76.2% of Marshall Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's  earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Amiah Poindexter, who  scored five points.
 Battle Creek Academy was led to victory by  Olivia Keller and  Sofia Keller.  Keller  dropped  a double-double on 16 points and 20  rebounds, while  Keller  dropped  a double-double on 21 points and 12  rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which  Keller has scored at least a third of Battle Creek Academy's points. Another player making a difference was  Katie Grentz, who  scored four points along with five  rebounds and two  steals.
 Marshall Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Battle Creek Academy, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won five of their last six contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
 Coincidentally,  the pair will both be playing Factoryville Christian the next time they take the court. Marshall Academy will head out to face the  at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday, while the Tigers will  host them  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
