The Freeman Mavericks will head out to square off against the Hanover Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Freeman got the win against Maggie Walker by a conclusive 13-3. Considering the Mavericks have won three games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ryleigh Perks was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Oakley Cotropia also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Freeman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hanover). Everything went their way against Highland Springs on Monday as they made off with a 17-4 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Hanover let Willow Dickenson and Kaileigh Byars run wild. Dickenson got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Byars went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Marisa Sawn, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Freeman and bumps their season record up to 3-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Hanover, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Freeman hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hanover struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
