The Norwich Eagles won the last time they faced the Argonia Red Raiders, and things went their way on Friday too. Norwich snuck past Argonia with a 42-38 win. Given Norwich's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Argonia is ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Argonia's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Filippo Leonardi, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was Leonardi's third in a row with at least ten points. Carson Vineyard was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists.
Norwich's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Argonia, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Norwich will head out on the road to face off against Caldwell on Saturday. Hopefully Caldwell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. Argonia won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Udall at 11:30 a.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Udall focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
