Triton Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Heritage Christian. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won 13 games in a row.
Jayda McKee and Olivia Schaadt did most of the damage at the plate: McKee got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, while Schaadt went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Collins, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Triton Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Eastern Hancock got themselves on the board against Irvington Preparatory Academy on Tuesday, but Irvington Preparatory Academy never followed suit. They put the hurt on Irvington Preparatory Academy with a sharp 12-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with Irvington Preparatory Academy: they've now won four in a row.
Nieko Engleking made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Brooklynn Headlee was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Addisyn Trackwell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Triton Central's record is now 21-2. As for Eastern Hancock, their record now sits at 13-11.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Triton Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .396. However, it's not like Eastern Hancock struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
